** This summit is designed for Alaska DOT&PF stewards, custodians, owners and users of data.Alaskan Rural or Regional Planning Offices (RPO) and Municipal Planning Offices (MPO) are welcome to join. 

Topics covered include Performance Based Planning & Programming, Transportation plans, data analysis/science, data visualization, GIS tools, project selection criteria, department data needs & challenges.

This event will be two full days and the general focus is on DOT&PF data topics.  

Day 1 - You will learn from experts in the field of data, data analysis, data science & data visualization, and how data informs decision-making. You will also learn about what data is available and receive some training on GIS Tools, and other key applications.

Day 2 - You will be part of brainstorming sessions to address our data needs, data challenges & gaps, and how we can resolve those challenges. We'll also have a professional panel on the future of data in our department and with our federal partners.

The goals of the summit are to:

• increase the awareness and value of quality data
• provide some training on data access and use
• brainstorm and share ideas on how to improve the access to quality data
• hear about best data practices from professionals in other state DOTs, FHWA, and private firms
• learn about our department's transportation plans & programs and how data supports them
• learn about the department's shift to performance-based planning & programming

We have invited some federal partners, State DOT representatives from outside Alaska, and professional data consultants to present and participate in our discussions.
