Description

Precision Blasting Services will present a Blasting workshop with practical information for managers, engineers and inspectors to learn to identify problem areas in blasting and wall control. Participants will learn if blasting problems are caused by changed geologic conditions or poor blasting practice on the part of the contractor.

Objectives / Topics

Attendees will:

  • Learn how blasts are designed and what to look for if blasts do not perform properly
  • Categorize types of blasting problems and appreciate the relative level of effort required to correct each problem type
  • Recognize the difference between problems caused by design and problems due Geology
  • Gauging whether appropriate changes in the blasting plan have been done correctly
  • Be given the newest methods of designing Precision Presplits, estimating presplit vibration and airblast
  • Be given a brief overview on Blasting Specifications that require the contractor to use the best technology and not just the least expensive.
Target Audience

For engineers, inspectors, and blasters working on government highway projects and other major construction projects, including lock and damn blasting.
